We saw this pub while driving around looking for our hotel in Salzburg, on our first day. Needless to say, we felt at home right away. Day 2 at breakfast. *slurp*.
Day 2 on our way to Hitler's Eagles Nest retreat. It rained the night before, so the sky was clean and blue blue blue. We didn't see much inside of the Eagle's Nest, but outside was really cool! The flowers were really sweet.
Cam on a rock. Ali on a rock.
Cam on a rock... again. Cam on a rock... yet again.
Can you see the Bluebell? You can't can you? But it was real sweet, even if the close-up of me isn't ;-)
Beautiful view hey? Cam between a rock and a hard place??!!
Take two. This one looks much better doesn't it? This is the nest that we didn't see much of.
By now you are getting the picture that the mountains are rather nice in this area, yes? This was on the nest itself. "Kehlsteinhaus" means House on the Kehlstein (throat stone) which is just the name of that mountain. "Berchtesgaden" is the city it belongs to. (web cam) - thanks Sven!
So much beauty, and the mountains are nice too. ;-) Cam likes cows and Cam likes me. I don't like what I conclude from this.
The river Salzach is pretty -- a pale green color due to the minerals. A salt mine is nearby. Apparently the said mine has been going for about two and a half thousand years, cool hey? Pretty house/hotel/restaurant.
Salzburg has this thing with decorating cows! Just kidding, they're not real. Salzburg from the Fortress, biggest castle in Europe apparently.
Fortress again. More fortess.
Fortress... Fortress...
Fortress... Church!!
That fortress was big and we were TIRED! After a (very) quick rest, we dressed up and went to see Don Giovanni at Large Festival Hall. Cam got some more sleep. :-/
But he did take these nice pictures of the cast for me! Salzburg had some pretty bridges.
And some pretty gardens. Cam among the yellow roses...
But the resting soon ended when we went on another tour, this time to the Ice Caves! More beautiful mountains for us. So we drove to a parking lot, saw some more mountains.
Hiked to a cable car (steepest in Europe, apparently), saw some more mountains. Pretty steep hey? Fast too!
Ice caves... Ice caves...
Ice caves... Ice caves...
The ice caves were cool, but I really enjoyed the mountains most. *sigh*
Ali and Cam! This is the walk-way to the mouth of the ice-caves.
Isn't this pretty? We saw it from the ice caves. Pretty castle using no zoom.
We were really hungry after that day, and here is me looking for the biggest dish on the menu! Salzburg by night, with flash.
Salzburg by night, without flash. It was just so pretty that we took another.
